Here is her story:
I started gaining weight my freshman year of college. By the time I was in my late 20’s, I weighed about 169 pounds at 5 feet, 4 inches tall. Since I had no idea how to lose the weight, and no support system in place, I just continued to get bigger. I had my first round of breast cancer at the age of 33, after my daughter was born with multiple rare and complex birth defects. Caring for her took all my focus and energy. My weight fluctuated somewhat over the next number of years and taking care of myself was my last priority.
Fast forward to the year I turned 40. I started running with my little sister to relieve stress and found that I liked exercising when it was on my terms. I lost a good deal of weight, but I was not happy at all with my body. With all the complex medical issues in our family, my husband had also struggled with his weight. One night he was sitting on the sofa, all 280 pounds of him, flipping channels and eating a bag of chips. He came across an infomercial for a 90 Day workout and a reality show on another channel featuring a man about his age and weight with a great deal of weight related health issues. That night he decided to go to “all in” and prove whether this workout was all it claimed to be. I watched him transform his body and go from 280 pounds to 170 pounds of lean muscle. I knew I needed to get in on the action!
I joined on my birthday, January 18, 2010, to be able to afford my superfood shake and supplements. I have used multiple workout programs over the past 8 years to lose 40+ pounds and keep it off. The community gave me the support system I never had! The in-home workout programs made it very convenient to work out and still take care of my daughter. It has also taught me about proper nutrition and portion control so that I could get the best results possible. When my second round of cancer hit me at the age of 46, I was much healthier and better prepared to handle the stress and strain of another illness.
This past May 2017, I decided to start paying it forward and sharing what I’ve been given more directly by becoming a Coach. Now, not only am I able to help others who are struggling with their health, I can earn a supplemental income to help my family. I’m super excited to see how many people I can help!
